Who is DG?

Our Mission

Delta Gamma offers women of all ages a rich heritage based on principles of personal integrity, personal responsibility and intellectual honesty. Its primary purpose is to foster high ideals of friendship, promote educational and cultural interests, create a true sense of social responsibility, and develop the finest qualities of character.

Our Legacy

Today Delta Gamma has more than 263,000 initiated members, with 152 collegiate chapters and more than 190 alumnae groups across the United States and Canada.

Founded as “a club of mutual helpfulness,” Delta Gamma empowers women to act with intention so that they become an unstoppable force for good. In 1873, Delta Gamma was founded in Oxford, Mississippi. The organization’s three Founders chose the Greek letters Delta and Gamma to represent “Do Good,” a promise to do the work of lasting progress. Since its founding, the fraternity has grown into an international organization with more than 250,000 members, 152 collegiate chapters and 200 alumnae groups. Today, members show their commitment to the sisterhood by empowering and uniting women of conviction to see beyond barriers and redefine the path for those who come next.

Delta Gamma is excited to be coming home to Clemson University and to make an impact on the entire Clemson community. We are seeking women who have a passion for doing good. We strive to help our members grow into leaders and successful young professionals, support them as they learn their own personal and professional interests and provide a network of women who will support them for a lifetime. We believe that the most meaningful experiences for our collegiate members come from collaboration between our Fraternity, university faculty and the greater college community.

As part of our Fraternity’s philosophy, we partner with campuses that have strong values which align with ours. We believe that in reestablishing our chapter at Clemson, we will be members of a community that values the empowerment of women, a dedication to academic success, an investment in leadership development and the promotion of the greater good through service and advocacy.

Membership is open to all individuals who identify as women. Those selected for membership in Delta Gamma must have good scholarship, be of good character and standing, have an interest in activities that will enhance the academic atmosphere at the college or university, and have a sincere desire to contribute to the work of Delta Gamma.
