Our Chapter at Christopher Newport University
Being a charter member of Delta Gamma at Christopher Newport University means making history on your campus and in DG! If you are interested in being part of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build a lasting sisterhood upon a foundation of hope, Delta Gamma is looking for you.

Delta Gamma brings a rich heritage, innovative programming, commitment to service, engaged and supportive alumnae and lifelong sisterhood to campuses throughout North America. We invite you to learn about the unique opportunity to be a charter member of Delta Gamma at Christopher Newport University!

Recruitment and Colonization
Delta Gamma’s colonization will start in the fall of 2014. During that time, we will look to pledge women ranging from women who have completed 12 units of college credits to senior status (women with less than 12 college credits will not be eligible to join Delta Gamma until winter 2015 formal recruitment).

Leading up to our colonization, look for members of Delta Gamma on campus, at the Involvement Fair or hanging out in the DSU – we would love for you to stop by and say hi!

Here for Loyalty: It’s all about sisterhood.

Above all, we support one another. We find boundless strength in the numbers of our collegiate and alumnae sisters. We sustain, encourage and nurture our members by helping them stay and excel in school, maintain active involvement with Delta Gamma and be safe and accountable for their actions.

The college experience can be challenging. We exist to help women emerge stronger, more connected and more aware. We are always there for our sisters. And they are always there for us.

Delta Gamma’s build their sisterhood in collegiate chapters through formal and informal programming. From sisterhood gatherings (think movie nights, bowling, and ice cream socials) to new member and chapter retreats, enriching the bonds of our sisterhood is in the heart of every Delta Gamma.

Here for Distinction: It’s all about scholarship.
For today’s college students, challenges abound. Many sisters carry a full course load, hold down a job (or two), volunteer their time and serve as officers for their DG chapter. This complex balancing act shapes a generation of young women poised for meaningful contributions in the years ahead.

The Delta Gamma collegiate experience fosters intellectual development, scholarship and development of critical leadership skills. Given the tools to succeed and the confidence to lead, our sisters become assets to their communities and one another.

Here for the Challenge: It’s all about leadership.
Delta Gammas are encouraged to find new ways to grow and define their capabilities. Collegiate chapters offer an assortment of leadership roles, ultimately involving each member in the management of the chapter.

Time management, administrative and managerial skills are sharpened through seminars and conventions offered by Delta Gamma. And members are mentored by chapter advisers and visiting consultants.

Delta Gamma’s Leveraging Leaders program is a dynamic values-based leadership experience that invests in the personal development of our members.

Here for Advocacy: It’s all about being there for others.

Service isn’t just about character – service is also about recognizing there are people in the community with needs, and working to create and fund proactive solutions to alleviate those needs.

Since 1936, Delta Gamma’s philanthropic purpose as been to help those who are blind and visually impaired as well as prevent blindness in others. Delta Gammas founded and financially support four schools for the blind in Los Angeles, Denver, Saint Louis and Kansas City.

At CNU, our members can create their own vision for service. Whether it be at a local school assisting with vision screenings or volunteering at a local retirement home to support the Golden Anchor Program, our members will being Doing Good through service, fundraising and raising awareness.
